Still no summer in sight, but after hearing about -19°C in Germany I think I won't comment on the lack of sunshine on this side of the ocean any more...
So: day 3 in Peru and everything is great! Actually getting better by the day. Diana is now here with me, and after thoroughly sleeping in yesterday we ventured out to discover Lima on a nice little bustour, followed by ceviche and a pisco sour on a terrace above the Pacific Ocean. Ceviche is a meal of raw fish marinated in spicy lemon juice and served with corn and sweet potatoes - and it is absolutely delicious. So is pisco sour, Peru's signature drink made of Pisco, lime juice, white sugar, foamed eggwhite and crushed ice - even though Chile claims to have invented it. But according to the Peruvians it IS Peruvian as all grapes that pisco is made of come from Peru. Either way - it's good and by the end of our trip Diana and I shall be able to tell a good from a less good one!
We continued our culinary experience last night with Claudia and her parents who invited us to an excellent fish restaurant on the mole down by the beach, where you could watch the waves hit the pillars of the restaurant just underneath your table and the seagulls rush around. And the food was AMAZING! Great evening and really nice to meet Claudia's family.
This morning has been dedicated to getting ready for the rest of our trip as Diana and I will leave Lima tomorrow and venture southwards along the coast. So we are reading our travel guides, booking accomodation along the way and buying bus and train tickets. This hopefully successful morning will later be rewarded with lunch with Claudia and Ramon - just thinking about that makes me hungry already :-)
