Week 5 of our MBA is over - meaning another 15 lectures, 5 meetings with the team in the mornings, long evenings in the library and short nights are behind us. Oh, and the Student Council elections. Each section got to vote for their class representatives. In our section, Naresh and I have been elected and will thus represent our class' interests and concerns vis-à-vis the school for the next two years. And help class mates in despair if need be (and if desired). Hope the class will be happy with us.
Unfortunately week 5 also ended with some trouble at the apartment. As the skies over Barcelona have shared entire seas of rain with us this week our roof has eventually decided to give in, flooding a corner of Mareike's room. In addition to that, our heating doesn't work as we have come to realize when the whether turned really cold in the middle of the week. Which is why wearing at least two sweaters and a coat at home has become the latest Muntaner trend. Shweta looks particularly cute when she shuffles around the apartment wrapped in her big shawl and hides her hands in gloves. As all good things come in threes, our phone and internet connection have also gone missing. Last week, a group of workers has eventually taken up the work in the staircase and on the roof that they were supposed to kick-off a month ago. In their eagerness to finally get to work they seem to have cut through a couple of phone lines in our building - which opened my way to an interesting phone conversation with Telefónica's call center this morning:
- Dígame!
- Our phone line has been cut, so we don't have phone and internet any more.
- So what exactly is the problem? Can people still call you? And can you dial?
- As I said, the phone line is cut. We can't do anything.
- So can you still call?
- No, the line is down. We can neither call nor receive calls.
- What do you hear?
- Nothing - the phone is dead.
- So do you hear a signal in the line?
Aaaaaaaarrrgh! At least they called back this afternoon and will send a technician over on Monday. Until then our source for internet will be IESE's campus... Which is where I have spent most of my afternoon in an attempt to prepare for the midterms. Haven't gotten far enough yet so need to get back to my Decision Analysis exercises. Wish you all a happy weekend!
